Mumbai: Software engineer duped in job scam, loses Rs 18 lakh

A software engineer fell victim to a part-time job fraud case, losing over Rs 18 lakh. The engineer was enticed with the promise of earning money by giving hotel ratings online. Initially, the engineer received Rs 200 for rating a hotel and sending a screenshot. The fraudsters then instructed the engineer to create a Telegram account and join their group, where they offered a 'paid task' scheme. The engineer invested money and could see the investment and profit in a virtual wallet. However, when attempting to transfer the earnings to a bank account, the engineer discovered the fraud and reported it to the cyber police.
